Gillian Ryan
President & CEO

Gillian is responsible for the strategic direction and growth of Movi by creating, communicating, and implementing the organization's vision, mission, and overall direction. With 15 years’ experience in healthcare, Gillian has developed business strategies, nurtured new business models and built out channel programs for go to market planning, client relations and business development.

Throughout her career she has ensured consistent, profitable revenue growth by intimately understanding and aligning each of her clients unique business needs matching them with the right solution ultimately delivering outcomes that exceeded their expectations. She has overseen and evaluated market research initiatives and adjusted strategies to meet changing markets and competitive conditions.

Gillian most recently came to Movi from Accenture where she worked in the Health Provider Practice responsible for meeting with the top health provider clients across the US to better understand their strategic initiatives and solve complex business challenges. Along with her industry expertise she brings an infectious passion for patient care.

Lloyd Cooper
Chief Design Officer, Founder & Creator

For the past 15 years, Lloyd has led major research and development projects for clients ranging from Medtronic to Yamaha. Specifically relating to ergonomics, comfort and safety, he has designed seating for automotive applications, office seating for work environments and ergonomically advanced equipment in operating rooms. He understands how thought leading companies constantly struggle with innovating within the constraints of market competition, tight timeframes and restricted development budgets. In addition to client projects, Lloyd has spun off companies based on the IP he has helped develop. KontrolFreek, a leading developer of innovative gaming accessories, sold at GameStop and by Microsoft, is another example of carefully designed products that solve unique needs.

Foster Phillips
Senior Industrial Designer

It’s a fact: Foster loves to make things. Whether designing for physical, digital or a hybrid of the two, his design process centers around how people use products and systems. At Movi, he never tires of taking a customer need and transforming it into an easy-to-use experience.

As a child, his parents encouraged his ability to figure things out in creative and logical ways; building and fixing things with his father and making things with his mother in the sewing room. His logically creative training continued in college where he completed an undergraduate degree in Mathematics, a minor in Art, and a graduate degree in Industrial Design.

With 10 years in the design industry, his diverse range of projects include work for healthcare, consumer electronics, soft goods, tourism and banking clients, a mobile app for exploring Alabama's barbecue scene, interactive art installations, a text-to-speech iPhone app for people with speech disabilities, a universally-designed exercise machine, sculptural bike racks, urban street furniture, virtual reality travel experiences and Movi.

You might not know: Foster built the very first prototype of Movi with plywood. If you ever visit the Movi corporate office, ask him to see it.

Maggie Timbrook
Marketing and Sales Associate

As a marketing and Sales Associate for Movi, I am responsible for assisting and managing many aspects of the sales and marketing efforts including supporting sales goals, developing and extending various marketing programs, as well as proposal preparation. Responsible for responding and managing all incoming leads from the website including incoming calls. Manage the development, coordination and delivery of Social Media outlets plus email marketing or e-newsletter strategies to existing clients and prospects. Grow sales within the current customer base by serving as a single point of contact for key accounts. Grow and sell into new markets as well as support larger sales efforts. A graduate from The University of Alabama with a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Business Administration/Marketing. I look forward to meeting and working with you.

Lake Hubbard
Head of Production

As the Head of Production I am responsible for overseeing all physical production needs for Movi including construction, delivery, inventory management and quality control. In this role I work closely with the design and sales team as well as our partners that help us manufacturer our solutions on time and at the highest quality possible. Additionally, I manage all shipping and receiving schedules for our clients with direct oversight to the production of our devices. I assist in the delivery of client projects and work alongside our teams in all matters related to physical production.

Overseeing all productions for Movi to ensure they are on-schedule and on-budget is something I’m passionate about. I manage our pre and post production staff to ensuring all delivery specifications our clients request. I’ve established a strong roster of vendor and staff/crew relationships for our broad range of solutions across the country and enjoy developing best practices from pre-production through delivery for our company. I’ve created create production guidelines/handbook and contuanally work to refine and improve them for our customers ease of use.

I went to the University of Alabama where I studied Operations Management. I look forward to working with and doing everything I can to make your Movi experience the best yet.

Board of Directors

Jeff Timbrook, Chairman

Jeff Timbrook served as the Chief Executive Officer 2006 – 2013 for Acuo Technologies, LLC, later acquired by Lexmark International in 2013. Prior to that he co-founded Emageon which went public in 2005. He served as its Vice President of Sales where he successfully led and managed the sales efforts to more than 260 customers in North America. He has been active in the Healthcare IT industry for more than 25 years with proven ability to build, lead and motivate high performance sales and marketing teams in high growth businesses in both entrepreneurial and multi-national business environments.

Gerry Fitterer

Gerry currently is the CFO of vRad, the he leading national teleradiology services and telemedicine company. Prior to vRad he served as the financial and operations leadership role at Lexmark Enterprise Software in the Healthcare and Public sectors since 2014. Prior to this, he was the CFO of Acuo Technologies (enterprise medical imaging software company) since 2006 until the company was acquired by Lexmark in 2013. Under Gerry's leadership, Acuo sales exceeded a 75% compounded annual growth rate and the most recent shareholders received over 300% ROI in less than 2 years. Gerry has also served in various senior financial roles in other private and public companies, including KPMG. Gerry is a retired Naval Reserve Officer where he served in various leadership roles as a Supply Officer (Logistics).

Ken Cater

Ken Cater became President and Managing Partner of CRS Engineering and Design Consultants, an Engineering firm based in Birmingham, AL in 2000 and successfully sold the company in 2012 to an international engineering and project management firm. He holds Professional Engineering registration in over 38 states and holds designation of Leadership and Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional. Ken has served as President of the Parkinson’s Association of Alabama (PAA) from 2008 – 2015. Under Ken’s Leadership, PAA has funded $2,000,000 for research and Parkinson’s awareness in AL.

James Wetrich

James G. Wetrich, FACHE, is the CEO of The Wetrich Group LLC and The Wetrich Group SCO LLC. The Wetrich Group LLC is a healthcare management consultancy whose associates have more than 25 years experience in the healthcare industry. Founded in 2001, The Wetrich Group offers a wide variety of healthcare management advisory services. In 2014, The Wetrich Group SCO LLC purchased the assets of Haney/Lowderman LLC, a firm specializing in outplacement and counseling services for hospital executives.

About Movi

The inspiration for Movi began, as innovations often do, with personal stories. Will Ferniany, PhD., is the CEO of UAB Health System, one of the four largest academic medical centers in the US. Based on his experience in senior leadership with several of the largest medical centers in the country, Dr. Ferniany recognized that there had to be a better way to transport patients with greater comfort and improved safety for both patients and staff.

Lloyd Cooper is the lead industrial designer behind the development of Movi. Seven years ago, his elderly father was forced by age to use a wheelchair to maintain his mobility. The experience was heartrending and all too common. Lloyd explains, "When I began working with Dr. Ferniany, we put together an advisory team ranging from key hospital administrators to transport team members. Our design team shadowed the staff experts, asked thousands of questions and went through numerous designs.

Creating the first production design was a multi-year process of prototype design evolution. The turning point came in developing the patented Powered Assist Lift (PAL). By having the chair mimic the biomechanics of standing up from a seated position, and by integrating PAL so that assistance was always there when staff needed it most, we solved a number of critical problems. 

From there we refined the design continually until we arrived at the design we’re offering today. My only regret is that my father never had the opportunity to use it. I have spent a good bit of time studying optimal posture and the benefits of changing position over time through a range of design projects - from office furniture to automotive seating. I sit in an Aeron chair in my office. Whenever I have the need to work for an extended period, I grab my laptop and sit in my Movi. It is THAT comfortable."
